Director of Buildings & Grounds - West Central Area Schools

Position Function: 
The West Central Area School District has an opening for a full-time 12-month Director of Buildings & Grounds.  Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent, the person in the position has responsibilities for the overall operation and maintenance of the school district. 

Requirements: 
Administration:

Facilities management experience
Oversee overall maintenance of District’s 3 facilities and grounds
Coordinates all ordering of materials and supplies
Works with various contractors/vendors
Collects bids for products and services when needed
Reads and interprets contracts for services
Conducts custodial meetings as needed

Supervision:
Schedules all staff
Supervises/Evaluates the performance of all custodians
Makes recommendations regarding serious disciplinary matters to Superintendent; administers lower level disciplinary matters
Participates in the screening, hiring, and training of all custodial staff

Safety Requirements:
Responsible for Health/Safety of all buildings and grounds
OSHA Standards
Fire Marshall Codes
Workman’s Comp compliance
District's asbestos program
Maintenance of all MSDS Sheets

Equipment:
Performs emergency repairs as needed
Responsible for issuance and maintenance of all district keys
Monitors all facilities energy efficiency and regulates temperature settings
Operates and maintains buildings heating systems including boiler controls, motors, and fans
Responsible for required maintenance and inspection of fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, and emergency lighting
Monitors the cutting and trimming of the district’s grounds and landscaping
Monitors and directs district snow removal procedures
Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Works in standard office and school building environments
Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions
Exposure to cleaning chemicals, solvents, and contaminated trash, grasses, pollen, etc.
Heavy lifting may be required

Qualifications:
Minimum of a 1st class C Boilers License recommended but not required, ability to attain
Knowledge of state regulations regarding low-pressure boilers
Basic knowledge of plumbing and electricity
Demonstrate competence in supervision and evaluation of custodial employees
Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in maintaining buildings and grounds
Ability to organize, coordinate and lead custodial employees
Demonstrate an ability to coordinate and work with various contractors and vendors

FLSA Status: Exempt

Secondary Principal (5-12): West Central Area Public Schools

The West Central Area Public Schools is seeking candidates for the full
time Secondary Principal position to join the district’s dynamic administrative
team 2019-2020 school year possible start date July 1, 2019. 

The West Central Area School District’s administrators serve as instructional
leaders, learners, and managers of the school environment guided by the district
mission, vision, and strategic goals. The candidate must possess the ability to enhance
student performance, especially in identifying strategies that close achievement gaps while raising the bar for student achievement. Our leaders promote a collaborative, positive and professional climate for students, staff, and community. 
  
Job Requirements
Applicants must hold an administrative license issued by the State of Minnesota
or be eligible to obtain a license at the time the application is submitted. 
Experience as a school administrator is preferred.
