How do I enroll my child in the district?

Please go to the building that corresponds to the building your child will attend and the school will take care of everything you need.

What are the prices for school meals?

 Currently all school meals are free but because federal funding dollars are connected to free & reduced lunch forms, we ask that you still fill one out.

What are the activity fees and how do I pay for them?

  • The 21-22 Activity Fee schedule is listed below.
  • All online activity payments will only be found on the online Activity Registration site. Also, this will be the sole way to sign-up for activities as we are moving away from paper-pen hard copies.

What type of childcare is available for elementary students?

West Central Area offers three different daycare programs.  Currently they are all housed at our WCA North building.  The three programs are Knights Wrap Around Extended Preschool/Childcare, Knights After School Program and Knights Summer Care.  You may register for these opportunities at the link below.

My child has special needs. What services are available?

Each building provides special education and 504 services. We are also a part of a special education cooperative. Please speak with the building principal with questions about these services.

What courses are available to students?

Our elementary students have music and physical education on a daily basis and library time and media once a week.  Their class day consists of a blend of reading, language arts, math, social studies, science, art, reading intervention and math intervention for many.

Our 5th and 6th grade students have music and physical education on a daily basis and library time once a week.  They have the option to participate in both full band and small group lessons once a week.  Their class day consists of a blend of reading, language arts, math, social studies, science, art, reading and math intervention for all.  6th graders also are offered rotational classes in industrial technology, guitar class and digital literacy.

Our 7th – 12th graders are offered a variety of course offerings that change on an annual basis.  Please check out the course offerings for this school year.

 What college courses are offered at WCA?

West Central Area believes strongly in offering as many college courses and career preparedness classes as possible.  Please refer to the course guide for the most up to date information and note that college courses do require that students take the Accuplacer test to qualify for college courses.

What are the school hours?

WCA North Elementary

8:20 am -3:10 pm for students

Office Hours are 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, starting three weeks prior to school and going until two weeks after school is out. 

WCA Secondary School

8:19 am -3:12 pm for students

Office Hours are 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, starting three weeks prior to school and going until two weeks after school is out. 

 WCA South Elementary

 Do you offer preschool?  How do I enroll my child?

Yes, we do.  We offer both a three-year-old and four-year-old program at no cost to you.  Please use the link below to register your child.

How do I report my child’s absence?

    How do I find weather information as it relates to school and school activities?

    Many television stations share this information – WCCO, FOX 9, KARE 11, KSAX/KSTP

    Many radio stations share this information – KXRA, Cool 94.3/KIK FM, KBRF, KZZR, KPRW, KJJK, KDLM, KBOT, KMRS/KKOK, KFGO, and KVLY/KXJB.

    If you have the WCA app or enrolled in our Synergy data system, alerts will be sent to you.

    Where can I find the lost and found?

    WCA North Elementary - in the long hallway by the cafeteria.

    WCA Secondary School – in the high school office.

    WCA South Elementary - on a table by the Media Center.

     

    How do I access my child’s grades and assignments?

    Grades are posted on ParentVUE and StudentVUE and can be accessed at any time.  You will need an access code.  This can be obtained by calling your student’s school secretary.  Students are able to access StudentVUE with their school username and password.

    Where can I find the school calendar?

    Both a monthly calendar and yearly calendar can be found on the main page of the school’s website.

    The monthly calendar is posted on the West Central Area School Facebook page and can be printed for you at any of the school offices.

How do I find out about the community education classes and how do I sign up?

Everything you need to know about the programming at West Central Area’s community education classes can be found on their link on the WCA webpage.  There are also catalogs sent out for the fall, winter and summer.  These catalogs can be accessed at the bottom of the WCA webpage.  You may also seek information at WCA Community Education Facebook page.

I would like to volunteer in the school.  Who do I contact?

Please contact the building principal at the building you are interested volunteering in and they will help you.

**Activity Fees must be paid before the student-athlete begins practice each season. There is no family maximum.**
