Foundation gets Financial Gift

The WCA Education Foundation is delighted and humbled by the substantial financial gift from the Jan and Adolf Wagner estate. During her 32 year career, Jan Dale - Wagner was an English teacher in the Kensington, Hoffman - Kensington and West Central Area districts. She was in Kensington when a fire destroyed part of the school, and she was among those who opened the brand new Secondary School in 1995.

According to Deanne Kennedy, Ms. Dale - Wagner’s longtime colleague and friend, “Jan was a very effective, creative, and knowledgeable teacher. She was willing to share techniques and develop new ideas to make classes more interesting. She was respected by her students, and she respected them and had their well-being uppermost in her teaching.”

Jan and Adolf created a charitable remainder unifund (CRUT) during their lifetime, planning that a portion of that trust would be given to the WCA Education Foundation upon their deaths. Jan died in 2014, followed by Adolf in 2018. Through their generosity, The WCAEF will receive upwards of $48,000, which is reflective of Jan’s pride in the students she taught and the school district in which she worked. Their donation will help enhance programming for students.

The Education Foundation was created as a non-profit in the 1990s, with the goal of providing supplemental funding to enhance the academic and learning environment of WCA schools. It has funded many classroom extension projects and enabled generations of students to explore the world beyond the classroom, mostly by providing access to field trips and transportation.

The Education Foundation is the proud financial host of the WCA Homecoming events. The Wagner gift will be acknowledged this Thursday, October 10th prior to the 6:00 pm kickoff.
